Stretching tall as he climbs out of bed, Sam groans. Mostly in annoyance, because his phone is beeping at him for some stupid reason. He rubs his eyes tiredly with one hand, the other unlocking his phone and frowning at the few messages. He opens them and it takes a second for him to realize its his birthday.

Sam relaxes and reads through the messages with a small smile. There’s not many, considering he didn’t really like giving his number to people, but he’s content for the most part. His lips twitch as the smile fades; there’s no messages from his brother. But of course, Sam expected that (still kinda hurt all the same).

With a reluctant sigh, he puts the phone down and gets to making his first coffee for the morning, humming a pitiful rendition of ‘happy birthday’.
